He
came and sat by my side but I
woke not. What a cursed sleep it was,
O miserable me !
He came when the night was still;
he had his harp in his hands, and
my dreams became resonant with its
melodies.
Alas, why are my nights all thus
lost? Ah, why do I ever miss his
sight whose breath touches my sleep ?
అతను వచ్చి నాప్రక్కనే కూర్చున్నాడు.
కానీ నేను మేల్కొనలేదు.
ఎంతటి మొద్దునిద్ర ...
ఇది దయనీమయిన స్థితి నాకు!
అతఁడు ప్రశాంత
రాత్రివేళ వచ్చాడు
తన వీణతో తీసుకొని
వచ్చాడు.
దాని మధురస్వరగానములతో
సాగిపోయెను నా
కలలన్నీ
అయ్యో! నేనేల ఆ రాత్రులన్నింటినీ
కోల్పోయాను? నిద్రలో నీశ్వాస నను తాకెను గానీ
నీ దర్శనభాగ్యం పొందలేకపోతినిగదా?
